God Bless Knitpicks and the US Postal Service

I placed an order to Knitpicks on Thursday afternoon, late Thursday afternoon, and my package was waiting for me when I got home from Chicago on Monday. God bless 'em! Here is what was in the package grouped by how I plan on using them:

Suri Dream for the Lacey Shrug from Knitty

Wool of the Andes for the laptop bag from IK Fall 2005

Andean Silk for a sweater for Wolfen

Andean Silk for Christian's U of C scarf & hat

And more Andean Silk, black for a shrug and hollyberry for the Mikado fingerless gloves

Let's start knitting!!!!!

Wolfen Cam Monday

My 50 lb. lap dog

Happy Jolly!

I hope everyone had a good holiday! We drove to Chicago for the weekend, yes...just the weekend, and it wasn't all that bad. Despite the ice storm that shut down I-80 for a few hours. Thank goodness that Christian can read a map cause he was able to get us on our way via state routes to where I-80 was open and ice/accident free. If I had been by myself, I probably would have sat there and waited it out. ((shudder))
Here is Cindy in her Blizzard wrap. She's a crocheter so she was very appreciative.

I'll post more pics of recipients as I get them.

Here is Christian's niece opening her gifts. Cute, huh?

She kept putting the sticky bows on top of her head. I commented that it's just like a wedding shower when you make a hat out of all the ribbons and bows. Her dad looked at me and said we have a few years for that yet. :) :)

Done With Christmas Knitting!!!

Hooray!! Here is the Scarfstyle Blizzard wrap by Leigh Radford. I made it from Knitpicks Decadence. It will definitely keep Christian's mom toasty during the cold Chicago winter. I want to make one for myself...but that's how I feel about everything I make for other people and that's just not possible.

So, what will I do with myself now that gifts are done? Well, here is what I have on queue (on top of the WIPs already listed):
University of Chicago scarf & hat
Irish Hiking scarf/hat/mittens
Dog sweater :)
Lacey shrug from Knitty
Another shrug designed by Heather
Fingerless Gloves
Essential Indulgence sweater from Fall IK 2005
Laptop bag from Fall IK 2005
This should keep my busy, eh?

The SP Reveal

Today my spoilee posted that she got my final gift. Check her out.
Also, I got my package from my spoiler. Thanks Jamie!! This was a great package. First of all, she made a felted bag for me. I'm definitely inspired to try felting now. And what a cool ball of yarn...I think I might trim a hat with it. There were also candles, Eucalan woolwash (much needed!), maple candies (she's Canadian), lavendar & eucalyptus bath set, hot cocoa mix (already gone!), mulling spices, folding scissors, guage check, beaded row counter, beaded markers and Winnie the Pooh ornaments. Whew! Thanks so much! This was my first time participating in a Secret Pal exchange and what fun it was.

A Knitting Request

Christian casually tossed me his college alum magazine last night and told me to look at the last page. I flipped to it and it was a pattern for a scarf in University of Chicago colors that an alum had written. Being that Christian gets a little annoyed with all the time that I spend knitting, I almost teared up when he asked me to make it for him. And the best part about it is that the suggested yarn is Knitpicks Andean Silk. So not only will he get the scarf, he's getting a matching hat too!

I can't explain the gargoyle...it's a U of C thing

Wolfen Cam Monday

What!? He had a tough day at the office! OK, OK, don't worry, no pets were harmed in the taking of this picture. Posted by Picasa

I Took A Much Needed Break...

from all the Christmas gift knitting. I snuck this one in so I could wear it to my holiday parties. It's from an Anthropologie-inspired capelet pattern that I found on Craftster. I doubled up RYC Soft Lux yarn on size 11 needles. You can't tell from the pic, but there is a strand of gold thread running through the yarn cause it's nice to sparkle during the holidays. This was such a quick knit that I decided to make a couple as gifts. I'll post those pics after Christmas, hopefully with the recipients wearing them.

Thank Goodness for Big Wool!

I am cranking out the hats with Rowan Big Wool, LB Wool-ease Thick & Quick and size 15 needles. I just might get done with all the gifts I had planned to make this year. But it's basically hats this year, maybe next year they'll get the matching scarf??
