Card from my SP

My SP sent a postcard with Winnie the Pooh (and Piglet, too) on it. She made it special for me and it's really cute. Inside was written a joke:
A woman is knititng as she drives, pretty soon her speed has crept all the way up to 95 mph! AND she passes a parked police car. The car gives chase! Officer Bob turns on his siren, but the woman, oblivious, doesn't notice him. Finally, he pulls up along side her car and yells, "Pullover!" She looks at him...looks at her knitting...and yells...NO, IT'S A CARDIGAN!

Hee hee, just thought I'd share. Thanks for the laugh SP!

I have an illness!

And it’s called YARN! I recently got enough yarn for 5 projects from Knitpicks…look at the end of the December posts and you will see what I have planned. Now, I haven’t started any of those projects to date, cause somehow I keep finding other things to make with stuff I already have in the stash. So, can someone please tell me why I have already put together a list for Elann.com for another 7 projects???? A couple of them are lace projects to boot!! WHY??? Why can’t I understand that I will NEVER have the time to do all of these projects?? Not even if I moved into my own place and left the dog with Christian and sat holed up in a teeny studio on the UES day after day would I get through all the projects in my head. Will I ever get over this affliction?? Should I seek professional help? Aaaggghhhhhhhh!!

First FO of 2006!

I finally finished the hourglass sweater. I started on it during the drive to Chicago over Christmas so I guess it didn't take me THAT long. I learned a few things making this sweater. I learned the kitchener stitch, how to knit in the round and how to hem down live stitches. I also learned that sleeves are killer! They seem to take longer than the body. Even though the yarn is 100% alpaca, it itches a little so I'll have to layer a tee underneath. I still think that I will get a ton of wear out of this sweater.

Here's Michelle in the shrug that I made for her. I love the way she is layering it. This one is made of Misti Alpaca Chunky.

Progress Update

So, what do I do after ordering a bunch of yarn from Knitpicks? I start a project with yarn I already had in the stash! I got some alpaca at Smiley's yarn riot last month and decided to use it for the hourglass sweater from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I think it's going well so far. I can't figure out why a sleeve took me as long to knit as the lower body.

I'm also working on Christian's scarf. It's kind of tedious but I've gotten into a groove now and hopefully it will move faster.

The pattern only calls for the 'C' on one end of the scarf. I'm thinking about putting it on the other end as well. What do you think? AND, if I WERE to do so, would I just turn the chart upside down when I'm ready to start the second 'C'?

Happy New Year!

Last year, one of my resolutions was to learn how to crochet. Well, I did that and learned how to knit too! Yay! I won’t go into my other resolutions, cause I didn’t manage to resolve them. So here are my yarn related goals for 2006:
1) Only buy yarn every other month (instead of every paycheck like I have been doing recently).
2) Knit an intricate lace shawl.
3) Learn how to knit socks.
This is totally doable!
Here’s to a prosperous year!
