Gleeful

ZephyrStyle Glee
Originally uploaded by skillj.

I finished this sweater by Zephyr Style a little bit ago, but I was waiting to add the hook & eye closures before posting. Well, I couldn't find any big enough for me to want to fiddle with and the hook & eye tape cost more than I was willing to pay...$22/yd at Hancock fabrics...what?? So here she is with NO closure, and I love it. I used Svale by Dale of Norway in the color mist...nice and soft, yum.

Knytters Unite!

NYC SnB goes to see the Yarn Harlot
Originally uploaded by skillj.

Some of went to see the Yarn Harlot last night. It was great listening to her talk and she did pack the auditorium. Not only did she speak on her book, but she collected money for Knitter's Without Borders, charity hats and had everyone knit a 9x7 inch square for Warm Up America while we sat and listened. Our own Heather presented the Harlot with her own book, Not Your Mama's Knitting...Yay! And if you're interested in a shirt that says NYC SnB, go here...profit goes to Heifer International.

I love my hoodie!

Fafiness!

A couple people have asked me about the artwork that is my background. It is by a French artist, Fafi. She designed a print for LeSportsac, that's how I discovered her. Last week, LeSportsac and Swindle magazine threw a party for her. Stop by the stores at 81st and Madison and Srping St. to see more of her artwork on the window, or go to her site. Here is the artist in action:

Here's Bev, Fafi and me:

Birthday present #1

A Necklace for Amie
Originally uploaded by skillj.

A couple weeks ago, two friends had birthdays. Most of the time I'll craft something as gifts. This necklace is aventurine with smoke grey glass beads and a cinnabar pendant. I adore cinnabar and use it quite often. Amie told me she loved it.

I made these earrings from blue glass beads and shell. I'll definitely make more of these for myself.

More baby bibs

Petal bibs from One Skein
Originally uploaded by skillj.

The person I made the Mason-Dixon bibs showed them to her mom and her mom requested that I make bibs for her two cousins that are expecting also. Here is the first set of Petal bibs from One Skein, using Rowan Handknit cotton. These are really quick to make, but man, is that a lot of i-cord! I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to use Minx's i-cord maker...maybe I'll figure it out in time to make the next 3. 3 is a nice round number, don't you think?
