Gangsta Knitta

Do you think that the people strolling through Bryant Park can tell that I am listening to Three 6 Mafia while I work on my (Blue)Green Gable? Well, I am in a bit of a mood today and this music matches said mood. Anything and everything is bothering me. No, you can’t use this chair…don’t you see it’s holding my bag?! And Damn, didn’t yo mama teach you how to chew with your mouth closed? I don’t know what’s going on with me today. And I decided to leave when my Denises came apart at the join and dropped several stitches. Fuckin A!!!!

Lazy weekend

I didn't do much crafting this weekend. And I didn't get any BBQ either. I'm bummed about that cause I have a BBQ timer that goes off only on Memorial Day and Labor Day, the rest of the year it doesn't even cross my mind. I hopped on the band wagon and cast on for the Green Gable, and didn't touch the Sweet Pea shawl at all. Good thing I have a month to finish it.

Edit: I actually wasn't that lazy. I cleaned the apartment and that includes cleaning under the bed...eeekkk! There were lots of surprises waiting for me under there.

The Bead Goes On.....

I have an FO! I made this cuff for my friend's bday. I used TLC cotton so I added buttons (and Claudine added button holes for me..thanks, C!)cause I didn't want it to stretch out from being pulled on and off. Here is Jenn, modeling it for me.

And what do I do when I finish a project? Work on one of the many WIPs in the sidebar? Guess again! I start another project!!! I started the Sweet Pea shawl from the Happy Hooker. I'm using Patons Brilliant cause I'm wearing it to a wedding and I want to look Brilliant, of course!

Lion & Lamb Haul

I couldn't resist...I had to go the Lion and the Lamb on the last day. I took an "executive" lunch and went up there Friday afternoon. It seems like I left a little before Heather got there. I managed to pick up some Misti Alpaca lace weight, Misti Pima cotton and various yarns for all the baby blankets I see in my near future. No more babies or weddings this year, please! I've reached my annual quota!

I'd love to stop and chat, but I've gotta go get a drink first.

Project Spectrum: Green

She's finally finished! I just put the belt loops on my Starsky cardigan. Boy, I love how after a year of knitting I'm still learning new things with every project. Yes, this is antoher project of firsts. My first cabling project, my first sweater that I had to seam together (the shoulders were tricky!),the first time I picked up stitches (thanks Rebecca for showing me how) and the first time I successfully blocked.

A Break From Knitting

Over the past week, I made a skirt with fabric I got at Purl Patchwork. I had someone help me with it because it was my first attempt at making something that wasn't square or rectangular. I think it turned out quite nicely, rick-rack and all.

I think Wolfen approves.

The Weekend

I didn't get too much done over the weekend. Kenyatta came in for a quick visit and to go to our friend's baby shower.

This is me and Jen at the Harlem Tea Room. You guessed it, she's the preggers one, with only 7 more weeks to go.
It was my first time going to tea and I want to do it every chance I get now...African Outback is my new favorite flavor. Over the course of the afternoon, it was cool to see the mix of people that came through. There were young couples, groups of older women (wearing their fabulous hats, of course) and another shower there as well. Check it out, if you get the chance.

In yarn related news, here's what showed up on my doorstep on Friday...

2 kits from Kim Hargreaves, yup, from across the pond. I wish she still designed for Rowan. She's one of my favorites and it's pretty expensive ordering her kits from her website. But everything was so cutely packaged I felt like I was opening a present. So one day, I'm going to make these
Fay
Buttercup
...don't bother looking at my knitting list cause they aren't there. I need to make an addendum to that thing....
